Sources and Fact-Checking Policy

How GlucoContext selects authoritative health sources, verifies educational claims, links evidence, and keeps diabetes content current.

Source standards

GlucoContext prioritizes primary and authoritative sources that are relevant to a United States audience. These include the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Food and Drug Administration, the National Institutes of Health and NIDDK, the American Diabetes Association, and peer-reviewed research indexed by PubMed.

A source is selected for the claim it can reasonably support. A food-label statement may point to FDA guidance, while a description of diabetes testing may point to NIDDK or CDC material. We do not use a citation merely because it contains similar keywords.

Fact-checking process

Editors compare important factual statements with the cited material, review dates and definitions, and distinguish association from causation. Wording such as may influence or may be associated with is preserved when the evidence does not support a stronger conclusion.

Numbers, ranges, and clinical thresholds require special care because their meaning depends on purpose and individual context. GlucoContext does not turn general ranges into a reader's personal target. Readers are directed to discuss individual goals with a qualified healthcare professional.

Source links appear at the end of articles and guides. External sites control their own content and may move a page after publication. We periodically review high-traffic and time-sensitive chapters and correct broken or outdated references when identified.

An updated date indicates a substantive review or revision. It does not mean that every external source was published on that date. If evidence is uncertain or evolving, the article should say so plainly rather than imply settled certainty.

Report a source concern

Readers who find a link problem, unsupported statement, or important newer source can write to [email protected] with the page URL and a short description. The editorial team will assess the concern under the Corrections Policy.
